Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level
Simple as that, must sign proper replacements in the summer

We need to improve on Noble, Downing and Nolan. I'd keep all three as part of the squad but never first choice. Downing would be good from the bench. Noble has ability but isn't a 38 game a season player at Premier League level. Nolan isn't good enough o be first choice neither but I think he would be good to have around the squad. He is a decent leader and club captain.

Jarvis is simply not good enough and needs to be shipped out along with Cole, Potts, Zarate, Maiga, Demel, Jussi and O'Brien.

From my observation:

Song : classy but not really interested.
Noble: Works hard passing sideways
Nolan: Totally shot
Downing: Pussy again
Jarvis: Confidence shot and playing in the wrong team.

Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level
Song is a class player, easily our best midfielder in terms of ability. Unfortunately his heart is not in it, hence the poor performances in recent weeks.

If we could get him for under £10M on say £65K to £70K per week then I'd buy him but he wants Champions League football, a £100K per week and Barcelona want around £17M.

So I'd look elsewhere. Diarra on a free and Mbodj at around £4.5M would do for me.

You willing to lose that 15 stone extra though?

thumb, the 'ideal opportunity' bit suggests you meant one occasion.

Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level
btw stats are bollock. I can pass a ball sideways all game and get 100% pass completion.

Yeah Noble is better than Song....laughable.

He was TB....I wasn't referring in particular to Saturday's game. It was more about this season as a whole.

Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level
Its not just Noble, and its not just sideways passing that is the problem.

I often watch as we push forwards in posession and the sideways passes we make are rarely into the space in front of the receiving player. The only player who seems to do this is Song, this drives the team forwards as you have to run towards the goal to receive the pass which makes room for others.

We seem to lack confidence or our players have some statistical fear of being the player who missed the most passes as we very often pass to a static player or pass behind the run making the receiving player stop and run back to get the ball so our attacks rarely get going.

Other teams don't do this.

I reckon there is probably an over-reliance on statistical analysis which is skewing our players' tendency to play attacking football.

wasn't Kouyate needed in defence thumb?

Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level

You are on a different planet. Song is different gear to Noble. Yes his form has dipped but how on earth you can say he is a hindrance to Noble is fucking ludicrous. It's the other way round. If you watch the games closely enough he keeps taking Songs ground all the time. HIs endless sideways passing slows the game down and allows the opposition time to get back in shape behind the ball. Watch Song and he's looking to attack with pace and play the ball into feet of the front man.

You never see Noble driving forward because he hasn't got any pace!

How they have given him a five year contract is beyond me. For me Kouyate or Song is who we should be building a team around and offering five year contracts to, not Noble.

Sunderland Saturday is the perfect opportunity to get a win and push on towards a solid end of season.

BFS had the ideal opportunity of playing Song Kouyate Downing and Amalfitano and dropping Noble and Nolan.

Strange that none of the ratings, in the media, seem to agree with the OP. All of the reports, give those mentioned an average score. Why is it, that none of these 'neutral' observers, agree with you?

Felt sorry for Jarvis on saturday. He was not great by any means but he was better and put in more effort than Downing who looked like he could not be fucked at all.

Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level
Think Noble and Jarvis are good enough if you play to their strengths. When you play them out of position or ask them to be individually be better than someone they might struggle but as part of a collective they can be more than good enough

O'Brien is worth keeping as does a job on little wages and fuss

Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level
Jaris is clearly not an intelligent footballer. Got into some good crossing positions to find just Sarkho in the box covered by 3 defenders and crosses. Surely a cut back would have been better.

Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level
You only have to watch a game that Noble plays in to see why his pass completion is slightly higher than average........They are passes that my nan could make.

The most simplistic player we have ever had in the middle of the park, always taking the easy option for HIMSELF and not for the TEAM.

And still we hear the crys that it's everyone else's fault. It's parkers fault, it's Kovacs fault, it's songs fault, it's nolans fault, it's Collisions fault....blah blah fucking blah.

I ask this question again, when has he taking control of a game? When has he rallied the team to come back from behind?

Captain? He wouldn't know what a captain was even if they hit him in the mush.

We won't move on until we move him on.

I know what you mean but I think you're exaggerating for effect.

Mark Noble is there to link play and he rarely loses the ball. He averages almost 50 passes per game with a pass completion rate of 85% which is good for a team that spends its time hitting the forwards early.

But you are right that he is limited but that is true for every player. Next season will be a telling one with Lassana Diarra joining and if we can persuade Song to stay and someone ever gives Poyet a chance.

On current form it might suggest Kouyate, Song and Diarra would compete for two DM positions and Noble and Poyet would be reserves but I bet it doesn't work out that way....

The Ghost of Braderz 9:31 Mon Mar 16
Re: Nolan, Noble, Obrien and Jarvis are not good enough for this level

Song has been nothing short of a hindrance and If Nolan is so bad, is it any wonder noble suffers at times with only Kouyate as backup
